"Can we upload our documents into AI?" This is one of the first questions companies ask. The answer is yes - but only with clear rules.
1. Know what is sensitive
Contracts, employee personal data, health data, passwords and internal know-how deserve caution. For public materials or draft e-mails, the risk is usually much lower.
2. Choose the right tool
Paid business versions of AI tools usually offer better protection and often do not use your data for training. For company work, this matters.
3. Check the settings
Many tools allow you to turn off training on your data or limit data retention. Five minutes in settings can prevent a lot of trouble.
4. Agree on team rules
A short internal agreement on what can and cannot be entered into AI is often more useful than expensive software. People need to know where the line is.
5. Keep AI Act basics in mind
European AI rules are becoming part of business reality. Most small companies are affected only lightly, but it is still worth knowing where you stand.
